About Dr. Juzer Husaini

Nashville Osteopathic and Integrative Medicine is a physician-led practice focused on a more thoughtful, individualized approach to care.

Background

I’m an osteopathic physician practicing integrative medicine in the Nashville area, with training in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R).

Born and raised in the beautiful state of Michigan, I began my journey into medicine by taking the non-traditional “scenic” route before starting medical school. I graduated from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University with an undergraduate degree in marketing and went to work in the world of Corporate America soon after.

A few years later, I realized that my passion lay elsewhere. Being surrounded by physicians in my family helped me realize I had the opportunity to do so much more to benefit and impact the lives of others.

That led me to osteopathic medicine — a field that emphasizes structure, function, and a more complete view of patient health.

Medical Training

I completed medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and then moved to Nashville for residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

During residency, I cared for patients with complex and often advanced chronic conditions. That experience shaped how I think about health — particularly the gap between managing disease and truly understanding how it develops over time.

Why This Practice Exists

During my training, I often found myself asking whether things might have looked different for some patients if earlier intervention — or a broader approach — had been in place.

Around the same time, I also experienced the impact of stress, poor sleep, and inconsistent habits in my own life. That period led me to explore integrative medicine more seriously, not just academically, but personally.

Applying those principles changed how I approached my own health, and ultimately how I approach patient care.

Clinical Approach

My practice is built on a combination of:

I am a Certified Practitioner through the Institute for Functional Medicine and have completed fellowship training through the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine.

My goal is not to replace conventional care, but to expand on it — using additional tools and perspectives when appropriate.

If you’d like a better understanding of how I approach care, you can read more about the practice philosophy here → [Philosophy of Care]

Outside of Medicine

In my free time, I continue to practice yoga and mindfulness daily while also staying active in adult rec league sports.

I am actively involved in the community currently serving as a Board of Trustee member with Nashville’s Sexual Assault Center and previously as the President of the Nashville Michigan State Spartans Alumni Group.

As my family is currently spread out all over the country, I also try to visit my young nieces and nephews as much as possible while also going back to Michigan to spend time with my amazing parents who have supported me along every step of this journey and who I couldn’t be more thankful for.

If you’re looking for a more thoughtful and individualized approach to care in the Nashville area, this practice may be a good fit.
